PLANNING/ORGANISATION

I am going to be taking photographs for my ancillary products in the next week and will be uploading them to the blog. Due to previous research into similar products I have decided that I will definitely be doing close ups for my products as I want to portray both a face full of fear and a face/faces full of evil; if I use long shots I do not feel it would grasp the emotion as much.

DRAFTING/PLANNING

I have uploaded a range of screenshots from when I was practising creating posters on the PagePlus programme that had been recently introduced to me. When playing around with pictures and backgrounds I began to feel comfortable with this programme and enjoy all of its features such as the varied photo effects and the transparency effect.

I chose to use this little boy as he looks quite normal and innocent in this picture; I wanted to see how 'horror' like I could get him to show my abilities in this area.

I cut out the background and replaced it with a more 'horror' like background.

DRAFT/PLANNING

After I drew my ancillary products I felt I needed to try doing a quick practice on pageplus; I took some quick photographs of the characters and put this together. It gives an idea as to what my final piece may look like.

ORGANISATION

What my characters will look like;

MOM; The mother will look like an everyday mom, wearing 'mom-like' clothes such as jeans and a plain top with very little make up and very little done with her hair. In addition to this, as she is a mother who is abused both mentally and physically she would not look very 'eye catching' anyway.

FATHER; The father will be dressed in very dark colours; dark coloured jeans, a dark shirt/top, and dark boots. His face will look drained and he will have a lot facial hair.

DAUGHTERS; The two daughters will look like average little girls, wearing jeans/leggings with colourful jackets and boots or trainers. However, as the trailer goes on the little girls will wear dark clothes due to the fact they would have been possessed, their faces will look possessed also.

DRAFTING/PLANNING

I have been practising putting together posters, using photos from GOOGLE and taking shots of Movie titles from other movie posters. When I came across this picture I felt it conveyed a lot of emotion, and from the movie posters I have looked at it is obvious that 'emotion' in the character plays a big part to the poster - this is something I need to keep in mind when taking my pictures for my poster

DRAFTING/PLANNING

Here are more shot for my movie trailer.
These will be put towards the end of my trailer as I want my trailer to end just as the 'monster' comes into it, this way its leaving my audience to think about what will happen next.

DRAFTING/PLANNING

This is similar to the work I was doing earlier in my project http://clairewalsh1234.blogspot.co.uk/2013/10/blog-post_31.html
However this time I have merged a face with the background, similar to the 'Shutter Island' poster I analysed

SIMILAR PRODUCTS

This is the poster for the horror movie Mama. The main colours are black and brown. Most of the poster is brown except the key image of a young child who looks innocent and is holding a very wrinkles and dirty arm of a women who is very think and long. This suggests that the woman is evil as she has very creepy and inhuman features. Due to the child hiding behind the women the audience can see that perhaps the child believes the women to be her mama even though she is perceived to be the antagonist. This creates and enigma and the audience would want to find out about the relationship between the women and the child.
The header says that this movie is ‘presented by Guillermo Del Toro’ who is the creator of Pan's Labyrinth. This may have been included to attract fans of Pan's Labyrinth. May be due to the similarities between the movies but may be also due to the success of Pan's Labyrinth as it made  $83,258,226 in the box office. It also suggests that this movie will be as successful to the audience.

The title of the movie is in the biggest size and also in white which stands out due to the key image being dark. On top of the title the name of one of the main actors' name is written. This may have done this because she is the most popular actor from the movie and probably has the most fans; this is to attract her fans.
Under the title the slogan "A mother's love is forever" is written, this is usually thought to be a very comforting message for children but in this context it has a more dark meaning, as the mother is a supernatural creature that is probably evil.
In the bottom we can see the release date of the movie. The text is bigger than the slogan and does stand out. The release date is supposed to be very eye catchy so the audience remember when the movie is being released so they can go and watch it. Under the release date is the Facebook and YouTube link. This is a great way for the audience to find out more about the movie and also to watch the trailer. The Facebook link probably is more aimed at the younger audience such as the teen and young adults as they are more into social networks.

DRAFTING/PLANNING

My reason for recording this is to show some elements I could include in a scary movie, such as a moving swing with no one on it - this could suggest 'paranormal activity'. I'd like to include things such as this because I know it is something that is commonly used in 'demonic' type movies, therefore it must have a good impact/effect on the audience.

The gate swinging could suggest someone is in the park with them; this is also something 'demonic' like and another element I could use in my trailer.

DRAFTING

I did some editing on my phone to get my photographs to look more 'horror' like. I''ve uploaded this to show I have been practising how to edit my photo's to fit the 'horror genre.

ORGANISATION/DRAFTING

My horror trailer is going to be filmed both outside and in the house. I have taken photographs of the areas outside that I would possibly shoot a scene.

I liked this as I thought the long path looked quite mysterious and the overgrowth of plants and trees portrayed a sense of being 'trapped'. I could have someone running down this path being scared or perhaps the evil character walking towards the camera.
This is another path that I thought could be quite creepy, again because it gives the 'trapped' effect but also because its a path that turns so anything could be around the corner.
This is something I'm not certain I will use however it is something that could possibly be used for a horror effect. Perhaps the possessed child could be sitting on it.
Similar to the photo of the bench I'm not sure I will use this in my trailer but it's another option I have to use. Someone could falls down the side of it when running away or it could be used for a scene whereby the children are happy, before the possession occurs.

I have mentioned that I would like the children to be at the park at one point in my trailer in my drafting of my movie frames. http://clairewalsh1234.blogspot.co.uk/2013/10/blog-post_9.htmlWhen seeing this in the park I thought it looked quite dark and gloomy therefore could be used in my trailer.

Similar to the 'see-saw' photo, I took a picture of this as an element the children could be playing on. I prefer this more as the chains on the swing look scary and the background of the leafless trees have a horror effect.
This is a photograph of the area around; the tree branch in the middle could be a possible prop used as it looks quite dominating and unusual - dominating and unusual are two aspects that would scare the audience as its something having power over them and something they are not familiar with.

I started to think about where characters could be so got my little sister to stand in this place as an example. I thought it would be a good idea to have the father in all black standing here as it looks scary. I did three shots of this to show different length views.
